DrBicuspid (7/26) reported, “Quarterly application of a casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) fluoride varnish reduces the development of caries in young children, according to research presented on July 9 at the European Organisation for Caries Research (ORCA) annual meeting in Zagreb, Croatia.” The researchers “investigated whether the use of MI Varnish (GC Corp.) could slow tooth decay rates over a three-year period” in 6- and 12-year-old children. During “the study time period, 6-year-old children who received the CPP-ACP varnish saw a reduction in tooth decay rate of 10.8%,” and “12-year-old children’s tooth decay rate decreased by 8.6%.”
